Women's Education for Advancement and Empowerment
WEAVE works with thousands of displaced women refugees and minorities along the Thai-Burma border. Believing that women empowerment builds better communities, WEAVE develops specific programs to reach this goal. WEAVE coordinates skills development projects such as literacy, loom weaving, sewing, and teacher training. They build nurseries and develop child care programs, run community gardens, and provide refugees with access to medical facilities. Sales from WEAVE's traditional handicrafts help support these projects. In addition, WEAVE donates one doll to a refugee camp for every two dolls they sell. |
