This rare, old-vine offering of the classic Mediterranean varietal is wonderfully alluring for its elegance, richness and seamless integration of cherry, anise, blueberry, earth and oak. Composition 100 % Grenache Noir Harvesting Grown in the Piekenierskloof Mountains, from vines that are over thirty years old. Handpicked in late March. 90% of the country’s plantings of this near extinct variety are in the Citrusdal area and also the only virus-free plantings. Cellar Treatment Two weeks skin contact is allowed for the extraction of color and flavors. The wine was fermented in open fermenters at 26°C. Malo-lactic fermentation was done with oak chips and maturation took place in French oak for three months. Color Medium-red Aroma The aroma reminds of wood and spice but with tropical fruit not far in the distance.
